![]() ![]() Once you know what you need to get at quickly, you add the Actions' key shortcuts to the buttons (or for the X-Keys I do it the other way around, adding the buttons' Ctrl-Alt-Win and Shift Ctrl-Alt-Win preset key combination to the actions in REAPER) and you're away. I've had them a while now and I've got them very happily integrated into my workflow. and they make my workflow really smooth.īoth are USB and convert control actions into keypresses via a control panel that is "set and forget" (or set and fiddle about with if you're like me ). I use a pretty standard MS wireless wheel-mouse (1000, comes with the 800 keyboard for £20-), but I have one of these: When I want to customize it instead of assigning it directly to the mouse button assign it to one of the F keys. In Reaper pick and choose which actions I want to use. Workaround: In the kensington software (trackball works) set up the buttons to be keyboard keys that I never use (such as F11- F15). Let me know if you can think of any that would be even more useful: Here are some of the things that I think I might assign it to. So I'm free to assign those buttons to practically anything else. But Reaper is awesome because it only has one tool. He sets his mouse up to be shortcuts for each tool so that he can switch seamlessly. What shortcuts do you think would be the most useful on it. (see below).ģ) This is the most important question that I want to ask. ![]() This would be ideal because it would be much easier to customize. So I have three questions:ġ) Does anyone already use the kensington expert mouse or any similar mouse with extra buttons that have assignable effects? If so, do you use it for Reaper? What quick keys do you use it for?Ģ) Is it possible to integrate the kensington directly into Reapers Actions menu? In other words is it possible to set up one of these extra buttons as a shortcut much like we do with midi cc. Whenever you use one of the extra buttons it'll automatically do the assigned quick key. You can program it to do keyboard shortcuts. The pro's are pretty good:īut it's the last pro that makes me really want to try it. Now I'm not to crazy about trackballs but i think I might switch. A good used mouse can be found on ebay for less than 10 bucks. Part of why he's so fast is because he uses a Kensington expert mouse. So I'm interning and my boss is crazy fast at editing. ![]()
